K Chandrasekhar Rao won't get agri power credit: Revanth Reddy

Reacting to this, TRS MP Balka Suman said that it was Mr Rao who had enabled round-the-clock power supply to to all sectors.

Hyderabad: Congress leader A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday alleged that the credit for 24x7 power supply was not due to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao but because of liberalised Central policies.

Reacting to this, TRS MP Balka Suman said that it was Mr Rao who had enabled round-the-clock power supply to to all sectors.

Congress and TRS leaders challenged each other to an open discussion on the power sector.

Mr Reddy speaking to the media on Wednesday dema-nded that the TRS government publish a white paper on power sector. He said the power generation was more against demand.

He said that Mr Rao had announced in the Assembly in 2014 that the government would add 21,000 MW within three years. He said the Yadadri and Bhadradri power projects were not completed so far.

He alleged that in the name of power projects the government was going to borrow crores of rupees. He alleged that IAS officers were sidelined and retired officers were posted in key posts, and demanded an all-party meeting to discuss the power sector.

Mr Suman told the media said that Congress leaders were not able to digest 24x7 power supply. He said the government was ready to prove that the figures put out by Mr Reddy were false.

He said the construction of the Bhupalapally power station in Telangana and Rayalaseema thermal power project in AP had started in the same period. The Bhupalapally plant had started generation but the Rayalaseema unit had not.

Mr Suman said Telangana state would achieve additional 15,000 MW power generation very soon.
