Ramesh Chennithala blames Pinarayi Vijayan for IAS row

He accused Mr Vijayan of complicating the problems further because of his indifferent attitude.

Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala on Tuesday slammed chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan for his failure to find a solution to the problems related to IAS officers in the state.

Mr Chennithala told reporters here that the decision of IAS officers to go on mass leave to protest against the alleged highhandedness of Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau (VACB) chief, was an insult to the state.

He accused Mr Vijayan of complicating the problems further because of his indifferent attitude.

“Had he intervened in time and held negotiations with the agitated officers, situation would not have come to such a pass,” Mr Chennithala said.

The Opposition leader said that the administrative system had come to a grinding halt because of the demoralisation and fear that had set in among bureaucrats over the government's stand.

He alleged that maximum number of files had piled up in the chief minister's office as file movement was at snail's pace. Chennithala reiterated his demand for a probe into the role of chief minister in the appointment of close relatives of E.P. Jayarjana and P.K. Sreemathy MP.

Mr Chennithala shot off a letter to Vigilance director Jacob Thomas demanding a fair probe into the allegations against Mr Pinarayi.
