Hyderabad: Khairatabad Prajakutami contestant Sravan Dasoju has submitted a representation to the returning officer of the constituency appealing for counting of the VVPAT printed slips along with automated counting of EVMs to cross-verify and validate the votes polled on December 7.
Speaking to mediapersons, Dr Dasoju said, “In a large number of booths, the polling was delayed by 2-3 hours due to malfunctioning of EVMs. Most of the EVMs were replaced. Votes were indiscriminately removed from the electoral rolls despite their names being present in the online database and having EPIC cards.”
“I requested the returning officer to verify the VVPAT slips with the EVM records to nullify manipulation of voting,” he said, adding that he was ready to bear the expenses for counting less than 2 lakh votes, if done manually.
