Naidu's arrest is illegal and unconstitutional: Yanamala

Kakinada: Senior Telugu Desam leader Yanamala Ramakrishnudu described the arrest of party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu as an undemocratic and unconstitutional move.

When the police went to arrest the former finance minister in his house at Thimmapuram on Saturday, he demanded seeing the relevant notices.

Later, he told the media that the police had not followed any procedures and protocols in effecting the arrest.

He said that there was no link between corporate laws and government laws as the former was a separate law in itself. Hence, it is unconstitutional and against the rule of law to arrest Naidu, whose name did not even figure in the FIR. He said that this was a vengeful act by the frustrated Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is seeing the writing on the wall. He is an accused in 14 cases involving '43,000 crore, the TD leader said. He said that the police went overboard to please their political boss.

Former home minister Nimmakayala China Rajappa said that Jagan Mohan Reddy had created a curfew -like situation in the state with the illegal arrest.

Another former minister Chikkala Ramachandra Rao said that Naidu is known as a visionary politician, who had never indulged in any sort of corruption. He said that a corrupt government thinks that everyone is like them.

Meanwhile, many TD leaders from erstwhile east and west Godavari districts were put under house arrest or shifted to police stations, including

Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao, S.V.S.N. Varma, Jyothula Venkata Appa Rao and Jyothula Naveen Kumar.

Naveen Kumar, who was leading a protest in Irripaka village, broke through the police cordon and went to Amaravati and met Nara Lokesh and later to the CID office where officials are interrogating Naidu.

In West Godavari district, Palakollu MLA Nimmala Rama Naidu fell unconscious for some hours, when police tried to take him into custody.
