Venkat & Rajgopal Reddy are like Katappa and Bhallaladeva, allege Munugode Cong

HYDERABAD: Munugode Congress has alleged that Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy gave the impression of being with the party but was not only backing his brother K Rajgopal Reddy, now in the BJP, but also mounting pressure on the Congress’ rank and file to support him.

The allegation has raised eyebrows as Venkat Reddy, star campaigner of the party, had vowed to take part in the campaign particularly after meeting AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi. Interestingly, TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy as not assigned the MP any mandal in the constituency for the campaign.

The local Congress leaders, who had taken part in the 'Intintiki Congress' campaign in Vookondi village in Munugode mandal, alleged that the Komatireddy brothers were “stabbing the party from the front and the back.” They alleged that Venkat Reddy was personally calling party workers on the telephoneand pressuring them to support his brother.

“One is brother just like Bhallaladeva attacking from front; another is stabbing from the back like Katappa. Both have decided to damage the party,” said a local Congress leader, P Saidulu, at a local programme held on September 7, referring to characters from the film 'Baahubali.’

Saidulu said several others had received the calls but he was the only one to speak uop. “If he (Venkat Reddy) is not a traitor, he must swear on the party’s flag. While being part of Congress he is trying to damage the prospects of the party,” he said.
