HYDERABAD: A day after a TRS leader snatched a mike on a dais on which Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was standing, Assam Director General of Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta called his Telangana counterpart M. Mahendar Reddy and requested him to institute an inquiry and take action on the intruder.
On Sunday, the Abids police registered a suo motu case against the TRS leader, Nanda Kumar Vyas (Bilal) of Goshamahal, and Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samiti president Bhagwant Rao for trying to create nuisance at the event.
Abids assistant commissioner of police K. Venkat Reddy said that they did not receive any complaint in connection with the incident.
"We have registered a case against Nanda Kumar and will look into the issue. We had provided huge security at the venue to prevent untoward incidents," the ACP said. He said Vyas and Bhagwant Rao were booked for the use of criminal force, wrongful restraint and criminal intimidation.
Police said Nanda Kumar was an invitee for the programme. His daughter is also a local TRS leader. Vyas on Sunday attended programmes along with minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav.
Officials at the DGP office denied that the Assam DGP had sought action against Vyas. In a statement, the office staff stated that the Assam DGP had called Mahendar Reddy to ask about the incident.
