Kalyan said the people of both the two Telugu states will suffer as uranium mining will pollute the Krishna waters.

Hyderabad: Opposition parties Congress and Jana Sena will organise a joint struggle against the proposed mining for uranium by the Centre in the Nallamala forests around Amrabad of Mahbubnagar district. “Such mining will seriously harm the health of the people in the area while also damaging the biodiversity in the Nallamala forests,” warned AICC secretary and former MP V. Hanumantha Rao and Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan said.

They said they would be seeking the support of all Opposition parties to launching a joint agitation against uranium mining, which will harm the people and environment of both the Telugu-speaking states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Mr Kalyan stated: “The people of both the two Telugu states will suffer as uranium mining will pollute the Krishna waters. If pregnant women drink this, their offspring may face the threat of cancer and be born with mental disability.”
