Protect your MLAs if you can: Shobha Karandlaje to DK Shivakumar
Bengaluru: Udupi-Chikkamagaluru BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje has dared Water Resources and Medical Education Minister D K Shivakumar to protect his party legislators “if he has the guts to do it” while responding to queries on the BJP allegedly trying to poach on Congress legislators.
Talking to reporters here on Sunday, she said state BJP President and former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa had been in state politics for over four decades. “We too know how to engage in politics", she retorted.
Ms Karandlaje felt it was not correct to accuse the Bharatiya Janata Party of making attempts to destablise the Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) coalition government in the state.
In fact, internal bickering has reached a new high in the Congress with leaders fighting among themselves, she claimed adding that Congress leaders themselves were disgusted with the squabbles within their party.
Replying to a question, she said anyone, Mr Shivakumar included, could meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as officials of the Income Tax and Enforcement Directorate. This was not going to cause any problems for the Bharatiya Janata Party, she added.
