BBMP Mayoral elections: BJP will wait and watch, says R Ashok
Bengaluru: With BBMP Mayoral elections round the corner, the Bengaluru city BJP, which has won 101 seats, has decided to wait and watch the situation.
Party leader and former deputy chief minister R. Ashok told the media on Saturday, “Of the 198 seats, BJP won 101 seats. But both the Congress and JD(S) grabbed the BBMP through mobile voters (MLAs and MLCs). We have complained to the Elections Commission of India on misrepresentation of facts by the eight MLCs. Our party will also approach the court,” he said.
“We are not behind power, but we do want bogus voters to be eliminated from the election proceedings. If they are barred from Mayoral elections, the BJP will get power in the BBMP,” he said.
Mayor G. Padmavathi, Bengaluru Development Minister K.J. George and officers have completely failed to avoid damage in the city because of heavy rains. The BBMP has not taken precautions, including cutting branches of trees and desilting of storm water drains, he said.
The chief minister often says that he has given enough money to the BBMP, but there the works taken up in the city are not visible, he alleged.
“Because of pothole filled roads, traffic has been affected across the city. Just cross 1 km, it takes more than an hour. But the minister is not bothered about rain affected areas and has taken no steps to fill potholes,” he said.
