AIADMK will rule Chennai Corporation council again: Mayor Saidai S Duraisamy

Chennai: AIADMK will continue to rule Chennai Corporation council and will emerge victorious in the ensuing local body polls, Mayor Saidai S. Duraisamy said on Friday.

While delivering his farewell speech the mayor also sang a popular MGR song Naalai Namadhe and recalled his early political life. His ‘enthusiasm’ invited criticism from DMK members. At one stage, when the mayor recalled an incident in Saidapet involving the DMK chief M. Karunanidhi, the DMK raised slogans and staged a walkout.

“For the past two days, the mayor has been conducting the council for his political gains. Since it is the last council session we came prepared to discuss monsoon related issues, but the mayor is behaving like a TV artiste”, said DMK councillor Subash Chandra Bose. To shower encomiums on the state and Chief Minister, the council’s last session has been extended again on Saturday without a reason.

The members gave him a round of applause for his vocal skills and listed the achievements of the incumbent council. When the AIADMK councillor Sukumar Babu reiterated his earlier demand seeking extension of the session, the mayor agreed and announced that this last session of the council will conclude on Saturday.
