Secretariat shift begins to BRKR bhavan

The Secretariat is slated for demolition to make way for the new complex planned by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

Hyderabad: The seat of the state administration on Friday shifted from the Secretariat complex, where it has been located since 1940, and moved across the road to the nine-storey Burgula Ramakrishna Rao (BRKR) Bhavan.

Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi on Friday performed puja in his office on the 9th floor and commenced the administrative operations during the auspicious Friday of Sravana month.

The Secretariat is slated for demolition to make way for the new complex planned by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. The other offices at the Secretariat will be gradually shifted to BRKR Bhavan. The CMO will run from the Metro Rail Bhavan, Begumpet.

According to officials, the offices of the ministers, the general administration, finance, revenue and Panchayat Raj depa-rtments will be accommodated in the BRKRB.

Mr Somesh Kumar, special chief secretary, and some officers inspected their offices at BRKR Bhavan, which will be occupied in three weeks.
