BJP, TRS govt suppressing fundamental rights, says Uttam Kumar Reddy
Hyderabad: TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Wednesday alleged that the BJP government at the Centre and the TRS government in Telangana state were suppressing fundamental rights of common people, especially the weaker sections and the downtrodden. He said minorities, Dalits, tribals and women were not feeling safe.
Speaking at an event at Gandhi Bhavan to mark the 75th anniversary of the Quit India movement, Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy said Congress workers should feel their responsibility and fight for justice and equality for all.
Later, while speaking to mediapersons, Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy read out a few excerpts from history books to show that the RSS had opposed the Quit India movement. He said RSS leaders who were considered heroes by the BJP had never participated in freedom struggle; in fact they had colluded with the British against the Independence movement.
