No Hindi, Sanskrit in Tamil Nadu: KP Anbalagan

Govt will ensure that state's interests, culture and rights are not affected in any way: Anbalagan.

Chennai: The draft proposals of the new education policy sent by the Centre is under the consideration of the state government, state higher education minister K.P. Anbalagan on Tuesday said and asserted that Hindi and Sanskrit would not be allowed in TN.

“The government will ensure that state’s interests, culture and rights are not affected in any way and give a reply accordingly”, he said. The minister also said the rights of minorities would be protected.

He was replying to a question raised by former minister Thangam Thennarasu who sought to know the stand of the state government on the new education policy. Earlier, Thangam Thennarasu participating in the discussion on demand for grants to his ministry, said the committee which drafted the new education policy did not have any educationist.

Welcoming the stand of the state government, leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin said a separate resolution should be passed in the Assembly against the new education policy.

The same issue was raised by Stalin earlier, immediately after the question hour. When he sought resolution agai-nst new education policy, Speaker P. Dhanapal said the DMK had submitted the demand for a resolution on Monday and it is under his consideration.

Continuing his speech, Thangam Thennarasu said one syllabus for the whole country would affect pluralism of the country. It would also affect state’s rights and rural students. It would be a setback to social justice and reservation, he added.
