BRS Netas to Join Congress at Priyanka's Meet in Kollapur

HYDERABAD: The TPCC will announce its women’s declaration at a public meeting in Kollapur in the presence of Priyanka Gandhi on July 20, where former minister Jupally Krishna Rao along with other leaders will join the party, TPCC senior vice-president Mallu Ravi said on Monday.

The women’ s declaration follows the farmers declaration at Warangal by party leader Rahul Gandhi, and youth declaration by Priyanka Gandhi in Hyderabad respectively.

It may be recalled that PCC president A. Revanth Reddy had written a letter seeking her presence in the meeting a few days back.

The endeavour is to hold a much bigger meeting than the one in Khammam and make it the talk of the town. The erstwhile Mahbubnagar has 14 Assembly constituencies. The leaders hope to thus mobilise more from across these areas.

The leaders met at a resort as part of a preparatory meeting on Sunday.

Those who will join the party at Kollapur include BRS MLC Kuchukulla Damodar Reddy, his son Dr Rajesh Reddy, Gadwal ZP chairman Saritha Thirupathaiah, Megha Reddy MPP from Wanaparthy and former MLA Kodangal Gurunath Reddy.

Addressing the press Mallu Ravi said, “The BJP cannot defeat the BRS as they are hand-in-glove with one another. Moreover, internal divisions within the BJP have weakened it. People are not willing to believe the BJP or the BRS. The Congress is all set to win 100 seats in the state polls, 300 seats in the parliamentary polls and romp home to power.”

He said that the Congress will hold a satyagraha on July 12 at Gandhi Bhavan to protest the ill-treatment meted out to Rahul Gandhi by the Centre.

Separately, Krishna Rao met CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka at his residence on Monday to discuss his induction into the party at Kollapur.

Congress leader Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, who was present at Bhatti’s residence, said, “We discussed the way ahead to defeat the BRS. Modi and KCR are enacting enmity while being together. The state is divided into two groups — one favouring KCR and the second against him.”

On his visit to Andhra Pradesh, Srinivas Reddy, who was elected Khammam MP on a YSRC ticket in 2014, said: “I only went to the CMO to discuss with the officials about the contract work our company is doing.”
