Bengaluru: Following Speaker Ramesh Kumar's decision to hold one on one talks with the rebel MLAs who have resigned from the Assembly,  before deciding on the resignations, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders R. Ashok and K.G. Bopaiah, who is a former Speaker, left for Mumbai on Tuesday to extend any legal assistance needed to the 13 rebel MLAs.

The Congress party has filed a complaint against the MLAs with the Speaker seeking their disqualification for alleged anti party activity which is why the Bharatiya Janata Party has decided to offer legal assistance to them, said sources. Mr Bopaiah who earlier handled the disqualification petition of 11 BJP MLAs, will explain the status of the law on this subject  to the rebel Congress MLAs.  With a BJP delegation slated to meet the Governor and the Speaker on Wednesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party wants to seek the opinion of the rebel MLAs on their resignations. Sources said the BJP will also assist the eight  MLAs whose resignations are not in the proper format.

After holding a discussion with the disgruntled MLAs, Ashok and Bopaiah are expected to be back in Bengaluru Wednesday evening.
