TS going slow in joining hands with Centre for Kakatiya mega textile park: Kishan

HYDERABAD; The Telangana government is not moving fast enough on the setting up the mega textile park in Warangal, one of the seven approved by the Centre, Union minister G. Kishan Reddy said on Saturday. He said that though there has been correspondence, the state government was not coming forward to sign the memorandum of understanding for the park.

Kishan Reddy, speaking with reporters here, said the Centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership had taken many initiatives for the country and among these several benefit Telangana including the textile park.

As part of these efforts, the Modi government, under the PM Krishsi Sinchayee Yojana, had approved Rs 2,130 crore for 11 irrigation projects in Telangana whose completion has been languishing for some time. “Most of these projects are 70 per cent to 80 per cent completed and under the Sinchayee Yojana, the Centre is providing the funds for their completion and provide irrigation to farmers,” he said.

He said the Centre, since 2014, has provided Rs 27,000 crore worth of subsidies and fertiliser to Telangana farmers and also ensured no shortage of urea anywhere.

In addition, the Centre has provided Rs 23,948 crore to Telangana for sheep rearing and some other schemes of the central government, along with Rs 214 crore for oil palm cultivation in the state.

The Central government, Kishan Reddy said, has stepped up paddy procurement from Telangana purchasing through the Food Corporation of India paddy worth Rs 26,355 crore this past year compared to Rs 3,307 crore worth of paddy the FCI procured in 2015.

The Modi government since 2014 has increased minimum support prices for various crops, and also increased agriculture budget by 5.7 times from Rs 21,933 crore in 2014 to Rs 1,25,036 crore in 2023.
