Rajya Sabha seat: K M Mani not sorry, but is grateful

Mani said he had not stated anything for which an apology needs to be tendered.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Congress (M) Chairman K.M. Mani on Saturday said there was no need to apologise to Congress for his remarks made in the past as demanded by veteran leader V.M. Sudheeran. Mani said he had not stated anything for which an apology needs to be tendered. Earlier, in the day Sudheeran had alleged that after quitting UDF Mani had levelled serious allegations against the Congress leadership.

“Has he withdrawn those comments or is he still sticking to those remarks? Make it clear because all this is part of political history and very much in the minds of people. Mani had accused Congress of organising special classes for its workers and trained them as battalions to carry out attacks on him. Special funds were given to defeat him. He was attacked and humiliated,” he added.

Mani said nobody should try to create a rift between his party and the Congress. “Jose K Mani was not keen on contesting Rajya Sabha polls. But the Congress has taken a major decision to grant us the seat and it indicates their magnanimity. We thank them for that,” he said.
