Sitting BRS MLAs' family members aim to grab assembly seats

ADILABAD: Sons or other family members of sitting BRS MLAs in some constituencies have become active in public life in the erstwhile Adilabad district, with an eye on contesting the upcoming elections.

BRS top leadership seems to be encouraging them so as to replace several of its sitting MLAs who are not very popular with the masses.

Mancherial MLA N Diwakar Rao’s son Vijit Rao has begun participating in party programmes and visiting villages to highlight the welfare and development schemes introduced by the BRS government.

He attended the party's main office inauguration in Delhi by chief minister Chandrasekhar Rao as also the Praja Asheerwada Sabha in Bellampalli recently.

Local BRS leaders say Diwakar Rao is promoting his son with a view to fielding him in the next elections. Both father and son campaigned for BRS candidates in the Munugodu elections.

Giving a surprise to all, forest minister Indrakaran Reddy stated during a party meeting in Nirmal recently that he was getting old and shall support another candidate of the party in the next elections.

Hints are that he is indirectly proposing the name of his daughter-in-law Divya Reddy, a prominent woman entrepreneur.

However, senior BRS leaders like Srihari Rao, Satyanarayana Goud and Venugopala Chary have been waiting for the due recognition in the party in Nirmal district for a long time.

In Adilabad assembly constituency, Jogu Ramanna is active in politics. His elder son Jogu Premender was made municipal chairman and younger son Mahender is overseeing the party activities on behalf of his father.

A senior BRS leader pointed out that other than the dynasts, many senior leaders in almost all assembly constituencies were on a long wait for opportunities to contest polls or take up posts. Their interests would be jeopardized by these dynasts.
