Rythu Bandhu launched for mileage: DK Aruna
Hyderabad: Congress legislator D.K. Aruna and her husband D.K. Bharatasimha Reddy, a former MLA, on Wedensday gave up investment subsidy under the Rythu Bandhu scheme. They asked the government to spend the money to help families of farmers who had committed suicide in her Gadwal constituency.
They did not reveal how much money they would have got under the scheme, which offers Rs 8,000 per acre per year.
They said they were not against any welfare schemes, but Rythu Ban-dhu would benefit only rich farmers. They told mediapersons that the scheme should be called “Rabandu” (vulture) as it would help landlords.
They alleged that the TRS government had ignored farmers all this while, and introduced the scheme in the election year for political benefit. They asked the government why it was ext-ending investment subsidy to those who have hundreds of acres.
