Congress has stooped low, countermand polls: BJP
Bengaluru: BJP has demanded the countermanding of the Rajarajeshwarinagar Assembly polls after about 10,000 EPIC cards were found in a Jalahalli apartment on Tuesday.
BJP Karnataka election in-charge and Union Minister for HRD, Prakash Javadekar and Union Minister for Planning and Programme Implementation, D.V. Sadananda Gowda, said that since the incident was gravnature and had become a threat to free and fair elections, the ECmust countermand the polls.
"Only 10,000 voter ID cards are found, thousands have already been dispatched. The Congress fearing a loss in the elections in Rajarajeshwarinagar, has stooped to this level and resorted to malpractices to win the election", Mr Javadekar said.
If a former BJP corporator is involved, let police take action against her. But the incident came to light only after BJP workers confiscated the ID cards. Police haven’t taken action even after party workers complained, he said.
“Congress has accused Rakesh (BJP worker) of being involved in procuring the cards but he only exposed the scam. BJP wants police to conduct an impartial enquiry in the matter”, According to the BJP leaders, more than one lakh ID cards have been printed by the Congress candidate.
A month ago, BJP workers complained to the ECregarding the large scale incorporation of voters in the voters list in Rajarajeshwarinagar. But the Commission did not take timely action on the memorandum, ministers claimed.
