Check your party premises before raiding ours: Congress to BJP
Bengaluru: Congress leaders on Wednesday challenged PM Modi to have premises of top BJP leaders, including state unit president B.S. Yeddyurappa, "checked" by the I-T department instead of levelling allegations against its leaders, or enacting a “midnight drama” on confiscation of voter ID cards. Party spokespersons Randeep Singh Surjewala and Priyanka Chaturvedi challenged the PM: “Have premises leaders like (Yeddyurappa and Reddys) checked first."
Irked by searches in Badami and Chamundeshwari, where the CM has entered the fray, Mr Surjewala wondered why the PM didn’t initiate action against BSY, who has around 15 corruption cases pending in the apex Court. He also doesn’t act against the Reddy brothers, accused of plundering the state of Rs 35,000 crore of illegal iron ore, by withdrawing cases against him, Mr Surjewala said. "You have withdrawn six cases against them, both are actors in your (Modi) movie, for you have leased out BJP to Reddy gang here....,"he added.
On seized voter ID cards, leaders said BJP leaders enacted the drama in an apartment owned by their leader Manjula Nanjamari. "The BJP’s factory of lies has been exposed. Union Cabinet Ministers, Prakash Javadekar and Ananth Kumar have resorted to blatant lies too. ECI should register an FIR against BJP candidate from R.R. Nagar and party leaders for attempting to deceive," he added.
He claims Manjula rented the apartment to her adopted son Rakesh who contested the 2015 BBMP elections on a BJP ticket. "This is clear from the statement of Sridhar, son of Manjula Nanjamari," he argued.
He appealed to the ECI to take note of the statement by PM Modi regarding seized voter ID cards seized. "How did the PM learn of the issue and how does the BJP’s top Leadership and ‘Dirty Tricks Department’ figure in this sordid episode.”
