TTDC goes for revamp, to engage IT professionals
Chennai: With its website revamped and facing stiff online competition, the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) has set its eyes on “engaging” the expertise of IT professionals to efficiently manage its hotels across the state.
The initiative, which will see the deployment of IT experts, would enable TTDC to obtain the required technical assistance round the clock. Efforts are on to outsource “technical supporters” for its 22 hotels spread across the state.
“TTDC is looking out for a competent IT firm that could provide the technical manpower for a period of five years. Tenders have been floated and a call on this will be taken soon,” a senior official said on Tuesday.
Among the other things, these technical supporters will facilitate the smooth functioning of the hotels, ensure network connectivity property enabled in the unit, and other work assigned by the corporation’s IT manager.
Currently, the online reservation facility of the TTDC hotels covers all 22 hotels operated by this state-owned enterprise, which has 53 hotels under its control.
As many as 21 hotels in addition to restaurants have been leased to private hoteliers. Much of its online revenue is through online booking that has exceeded about Rs 11 crore.
According to sources, the corporation had initiated massive efforts to refurbish all properties under its control, hoping to mop up its revenue. The current measure of outsourcing the technical supporters is in the direction of improving the operational efficiency of its hotels division.
“We are ensuring a mechanism in place so that our guests take delight in visiting our hotels. Many among the foreign nationals who book the TTDC accommodation are repeat visitors,” a senior official pointed out.
