Chennai: Breaking his silence, popular actor Vijay on Monday said he has not extended his support to any political party for the May 16 Assembly election. He asked his fans to vote for the party of their choice.
In a statement here, N. Anand, president of All India Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay Charitable Foundation, asked fans not to believe rumours that the actor has extended his support to a particular political party.
“The foundation has decided to take a neutral stand this election. We have not extended support to any political party. Fans of Ilaya Thalapathi can vote for the party of their choice,” Anand said.
While making it clear that fans of Vijay can vote according to their wishes, Anand advised them to refrain from using the name and flag of the foundation in any of the political rallies or meetings. The statement puts at rest speculations about Vijay extending his support to DMK.
