Speak about Gujarat before you revile Kerala: Oommen Chandy

He said Modi was implementing anti-people policies in Gujarat and elsewhere.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Monday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had failed to provide any relief to the common people during his two years in office. In a Facebook post he reminded the prime minister of the promises made by his predecessor A B Vajpayee in 2000 including Rs 402 crore Kumarakom package which remained on paper.

“One and half decades have passed but nothing has happened. How can the people trust the promises made on development issues, farm sector,” he said.
“I would request you to speak about the development of Gujarat while talking about these issues in Kerala. When you implemented pro-rich policies in Gujarat, the poor were totally neglected which is now a reality. Do you want such policies to be implemented in our state ? Whenever we implement big projects, we take into consideration the needs of the common man,” Mr. Chandy added in the post.

“You announced schemes worth crores of rupees in Bihar and other states to fool the people. But this time you didn’t make such tall promises in the state which is a big relief for us,” he said. “I would like to list some of some failures of your government. You cut the allocation for MNREGA, despite crude oil prices coming down there is no relief to the people, you waived off loans worth Rs 70,000 crores and you allowed safe passage for Vijay Mallya who defrauded thousands of crores of rupees from the banks .

Are you not aware that during the last four years 60,000 industrial units have been closed down of which 45,000 were shut down in last two years ? He said Modi was implementing anti-people policies in Gujarat and elsewhere. “People have seen through your false promises and they would not give an opportunity to your party open account,” Mr. Chandy added in his FB post.
