Will fight against state, Centre: Jana

Mr Jana Reddy said that against this, the Congress will fight against the state and central governments.

Hyderabad: TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and APCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy alleged that during NDA rule, atrocities and attacks on Dalits have increased and only when Congress rules, Dalits are protected.

On the call given by the AICC, Telangana Congress had organised a one-day fasting at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday to protect and promote communal harmony across the Nation.

Addressing the gathering on this occasion, Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had cheated the Dalits by not keeping his promise to make a Dalit the CM of Telangana state.

Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy said that Dalit Congress MLA Sampath Kumar was expelled fr-om the Assembly by the TRS government. He said that under the TRS rule, attacks on Dalits increased in several parts of Telangana.

Quoting Sircilla and Nerella incidents where Dalits were attacked, the TPCC president alle-ged that the TRS government did not take any action based on these incidents.

Opposition leader in the Telangana Assembly K. Jana Reddy said that both the governme-nts at the state and the Centre have failed in pr-otecting the rights of Dalits.

Mr Jana Reddy said that ag-ainst this, the Congress will fight against the state and central governments. He said that only the Congress party protects the rights of all the sections of the society.

Opposition leader in the Telangana Legislative Council Mohammad Ali Shabbier said that before the formation of Telangana state, as the TRS president, K. Chandrasekhar Rao had given a letter to the then AICC president Sonia Gandhi informing that he will make a Dalit the Chief Minister of Telangana state but after the TRS came to power, he did not kept his promise. He said that CM KCR is cheating the people in the name of allotting buildings by laying foundations. Shabbier said that KCR had said that in one year, he will set up a huge Ambedkar’s statue but till today, the statue has not been set up.
