Hyderabad: Heavy police security in place
Hyderabad: As Telangana Police has denied permission to TJAC to hold Million March Anniversary on Saturday, on Tank Bund, police have geared up to act against the activists who would come to participate in the march from across the state.
Around 2,000 police personnel, including police from different wings in the city, armed personnel and paramilitary forces have been already put in place on tank bund and various vital locations in the city.
TJAC chief Prof. Kodandaram condemned the acts of the government and the police and said that they are reminding people of the atrocious rule of the United AP regime that had gone all out to suppress the Million March 2011 as part of a separate state agitation.
“Like the rulers of the united state, who had attempted to crush a march by using police force, our own government is resorting to similar acts, creating panic among the cadre.
The Chief Minister has claimed that he will fight in Delhi for the state but is not allowing the citizens of the state to fight for their rights in the ‘gallis’ of the city which is unfair. As the Chief Minister, when he can fight in Delhi, why can’t a common man fight for their rights here in the state. After denying permission for the march, police have been arresting TJAC leaders and cadre all over the state illegally. The State Government should realise that they cannot repress the aspirations of Telangana citizens through arrests and illegal detentions,” he said.
He further demanded that the police unconditionally release all cadre who were arrested illegally from different parts of the state.
The Million March in 2011 had taken the statehood struggle to a next level and despite an atmosphere of ‘curfew’ in the city, millions marched to the Tank Bund and made it a success, proving their spirit to fight.
