Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state committee has decided to field Kollam district secretariat member and Pattika Jathi Kshema Samithi state secretary K Somaprasad for Rajya Sabha elections to be held on March 21.
Earlier at the bilateral talks held at AKG Centre, the CPI staked claim for the Rajya Sabha seat. However,the CPM assured the CPI leaders that their demand would be considered at the time of next vacancy for Upper House.
Of the three Rajya Sabha seats falling vacant, two would go to UDF and one to the LDF. CWC member A K Antony and JDU president M P Veerendrakumar are UDF nominees.
