VT Balram slur: VS Achuthanandan pokes nose into personal lives of politician

He said the people are aware of Mr VS's habit of poking his nose into the personal lives of leaders and making derogatory comments.

Thiruvananthapuram: Congress MLA V.T. Balram has turned his ire against CPM veteran V.S. Achuthanandan who on Tuesday criticised him for his comments against communist icon A.K. Gopalan. In an article in the party mouthpiece, ‘Deshabhimani,’ Mr Achuthanandan termed Balram as another ‘Amul Baby’ and referred to Gandhiji who had married when he was only 13. Mr Balram, in a Facebook post, lashed out at VS and asked whether the Father of the Nation has to be dragged into the row when the CPM leaders had stated that the controversy on AKG’s marriage was unwarranted.

Mr Balram expressed happiness over Mr Achuthanandan addressing him as ‘Amul Baby’ because he had used the same term against Mr Rahul Gandhi a few years ago.

“Achuthanandan is showing double standards. How can he compare Gandhiji and AKG? Gandhiji is a great leader who is respected all over the world and who expressed openly about issues in his personal life without any qualms,” said Mr Balram.

He said the people are aware of Mr Achuthanandan’s habit of poking his nose into the personal lives of leaders and making derogatory comments. He recalled some instances of his behaviour, including the way in which he spoke badly against his rival woman candidate in Malampuzha Assembly constituency.

“This world is not only for a nonagenarian leader like you who experiences the pleasures of having all the facilities due to your role as the chairman of Administrative Reforms Commission, but also for youth leaders like me,” added Mr Balram.
