Telangana may offer sops for e-vehicles
Hyderabad:With the Central government aiming to switch completely to having electric cars in the country, the Telangana state government has initiated the administrative exercise to frame the Telangana State Electric Vehicle Policy.
As part of this, Telangana state Chief Secretary S.P. Singh has convened an inter-departmental meeting comprising the officials of industries, energy and other concerned departments on Wednesday. During the meeting,the officials are likely to prepare draft guidelines of the policy.
As part of 2030 roadmap for electric vehicles, the Central government is providing fiscal and monetary incentives for purchasing electric vehicles.
Under this mechanism, the government would borne a part of the electric vehicle’s price, reducing burden for the buyer.
The Telangana officials are studying the concessions offered by the Cen-tre for electric vehicles.
The electric vehicle policy of neighbouring Kar-nataka makes it mandatory for all residential apartments to have recharge points for electric vehicles.
According to sources, the TS government is considering several concessions for electric vehicles, including tax subsidy while registering the electric vehicle.
The TS government is also likely to give some tax incentives to attract electric vehicle manufacturers to the state.
Meanwhile, TS Transco has proposed the tariff for electric vehicles for the 2018-19 financial year.
For electric vehicle charging stations at LT voltage level, tariff is applicable as per the LT II (non-domestic / commercial category tariff).
According to this, the power tariff will start from Rs 6 per unit and maximum will be Rs 12 per unit.
For electric vehicle charging stations at HT voltage level the tariff will be applicable as per HT II (others) category tariff. According to this, the minimum tariff will be about '7.80 per unit.
The tariff will be changed according to the capacity of voltage.
Accordingly TS Discoms have submitted the tariff proposals for electric vehicles to TS Electricity Regulatory Commission.
The AP government also decided the tariff for electric vehicles at the rate of '6.40 per unit.
