Probe to bring out truth in cop death
Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Edappadi K. Palaniswami informed the Assembly on Tuesday that the truth behind the killing of city police inspector Periyapandian in Rajasthan would soon be ascertained through a probe.
He was responding to an issue raised by DMK MLA J Anbhazagan that there was no clarity in the death of Periyapandian.
The chief minister clarified that revolvers of both the living and dead persons were being examined by forensic department and the truth would emerge only after the end of probe.
It all started with the DMK MLA informing the Assembly that there were reports in the media claiming that his own colleague shot down Periyapandian during the exchange of fire between TN cops and the Rajasthan based-burglary gang. “The Chief Minister is duty bound to clarify whether it is true or not,” the Chepauk MLA said.
The opposition MLA pointed out that law and order was worsening in the state and alleged there was increase in the incidence of crime. The Chief Minister responded that TN police was still the best and emphasised that the RS Puram and Anna Nagar police stations were the among best police stations as per a recent all India survey.
