BJP may select candidates for state elections on January 11
New Delhi: The BJP’s central election committee is expected to meet on January 11 to finalise candidates for the coming Assembly elections in five states. The party is likely to announce candidates for Punjab and Goa, which are going to polls on February 4. The CEC is expected to meet again on January 15 and 17. Sources said the BJP could also finalise candidates for Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, which will go to polls on February 11. BJP’s UP election committee is meeting on Tuesday in Lucknow.
Meanwhile, reacting to SP’s internal feud, the BJP said “cycle” has gone “off-track”. “The removal of SP government is a certainty. It looted the state all these years and proved to be a failure on all fronts. They are feeling cheated... People want development and have made up their mind to vote for BJP, which is fighting on developmental agenda and will restore the law and order in the state by dealing with criminals sternly.”
