Dasyam predicts TRS will win 100 seats

58.29 percent voters turned out for polling on Friday to exercise their franchise in Warangal west.

Warangal: Former MLA from Warangal West constituency Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar said he was confident of being elected for the fourth consecutive time by the people. He said the faith of the people had put more responsibility on him to serve them better than before.

“After the election result is declared on Tuesday, I will go back to my normal routine of going to the people and interacting with them”, he said addressing the press here on Saturday. He predicted that the TRS was going to win 100 seats on December 11, when counting of votes ended.

58.29 percent voters turned out for polling on Friday to exercise their franchise in Warangal west. The constituency saw an increase in voting percentage of 1.46 percent. While 1,40,788 out of 2,44,544 cast their votes in 2014 Assembly elections, 1,40,409 voted out of 2,40,880 this time.

Mr Bhaskar alleged that some of the Mahakutami leaders attacked TRS workers during voting on Friday. He said they did this because of the fear of defeat. “We brought the incident to the notice of the police and requested them to take necessary action”, he said.

He appealed to the educated intellectuals of the city to think about ways to increase the voting percentage in the constituency. “If people come up to me with suggestions on how to increase the polling, we will take measures to implement the suggestions. Due to mistakes in electoral rolls, some of the citizens could not vote.

“There were many citizens who complained that their names were missing. It is ridiculous that in some cases all the names from a family were present except for one”.

He added that sometimes the names were listed as if in a jumbled manner with names of the same family featuring in different polling booths. Mr Bhaskar requested the ECI officials to take required steps to address the issues of electoral rolls and ensure better voting in the upcoming elections.
