Neyyatinkara Sanal is new DCC president of Thiruvananthapuram
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Neyyatinkara Sanal, the newly-appointed Thiruvananthapuram DCC president, is a regular face in all the party meetings at KPCC. Though many believed that KPCC general secretary T. Saratchandra Prasad would become the president, the odds came in favour of Sanal, 55. Sanal told DC that his priority would be to strengthen the party further in the district. Apart from Saratchandra Prasad, other leaders who were considered to the top post included KPCC secretary Manacaud Suresh and ‘Revive Congress’ team member R. V. Rajesh.
Sanal is known for his immaculate dressing — the khaddar shirt and dhoti along with the unique pristine white sandals. He quipped that white stands for “holiness”. Whenever an AICC leader lands in the capital city, he or she will be accompanied by Sanal which gave him close proximity with the central leadership. “It is too early to comment on becoming the Thiruvananthapuram DCC president. Well, my new role will not be confined to the capital district alone”, said Sanal. During 2005 local bodies elections, Sanal lost in his own ward and came third in the Neyyatinkara municipal elections.
But he went on to become the KPCC secretary. Under the then KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala and later under his successor V.M. Sudheeran, Sanal was assigned key role as that of a campaign manager in all the rallies conducted by the KPCC travelling the length and the breadth of the State. But now onwards, Sanal would have to prove his mettle as an efficient DCC president of Thiruvananthapuram. Sanal’s wife, G. P. Suja is the principal of Vishwabharathy Public School in Neyyatinkara and their only son, Ananthu Sanal is a Plus 2 student of the same school.
