Purandeswari welcomes SC order on cases against MPs, MLAs

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh BJP chief D. Purandeswari on Thursday welcomed the Supreme Court’s guidelines to high courts of various states on monitoring pending criminal cases against members of parliament and legislative assemblies.

The apex court wants the top state courts to supervise such cases, so that
they could be disposed of quickly.

In a tweet on Thursday, Purandeswari lauded the Supreme Court for a slew of
directions to high courts.

Incidentally, the state BJP chief had recently written a letter to Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud, pointing out the inordinate delay in the resolution of cases booked against public representatives.

She had alleged that taking advantage of legal provisions, leaders booked in
various cases, including AP Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, are
indulging in a series of violations while on bail.
