CM Jagan Sets Agenda for Clean Sweep in Assembly Elections

Vijayawada: Sounding the bugle for the 2024 ‘Kurukshetra Yuddham’, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy as YSRC president has asked the rank and file of his party to start the campaign with immediate effect to win the Assembly elections.

Jagan Mohan Reddy announced a four-pronged mass contact programme at a mega meeting of the party’s senior functionaries and legislators here on Monday.

Claiming that he was first and foremost a ‘public servant’, he said the high office he held bestowed on him a great responsibility to take care of the state and its people.

He announced that the enhanced pension of Rs 3,000 would be disbursed to the beneficiaries from January.

“The YSRC election manifesto will be taken to every house in February 2024 under the Malli Jaganannane Techukundam (‘bring back Jagan’) campaign,” he said in a highly spirited address of the 8,000-strong audience, consisting of YSRC MLAs, ministers, regional coordinators, observers, DCMS presidents, ZPTCs, MPTCs, municipal chairpersons, corporators, district unit presidents, sarpanchs and other party functionaries.

Jagan Mohan Reddy asked them to vigorously participate in the Jagananna Aarogya Suraksha (September 30-November 1) programme and ‘Why AP Needs Jagan’ (November 1-December 10) initiative, besides taking up the party’s bus yatras from October 25 to December 31. A ‘Play Andhra Pradesh’ sports festival would also be held from December 11 to January 15, he said.

The Chief Minister said Jagananna Aarogya Suraksha will continue till November 10 with health camps being held across the state, covering 1.6 crore households under the 15,004 village and ward secretariats. He asked the party rank and file to ensure that each and every family was covered.

The Chief Minister said he was only treating his political power as a major responsibility to take care of the people. “No family should be left out. You should remember that we will handhold the identified people and ensure free medical treatment to them till their ailments are cured,” he said.

As for the second poll-eve programme, the CM said ‘Why AP Needs Jagan’ events would be held from November 1 to December 10 in two phases. “In the initial stage, mandal level YSRC leaders will interact with all households and the people at all village and ward secretariats, explaining the necessity for the continuation of the YSRC rule for continued implementation of the welfare programmes.

In the second stage, mandal and village-level party leaders should hoist the party flag while interacting with village elders and households, conveying to them the message that the party has treated its manifesto as “Bhagavad Gita, Quran and the Bible” and implemented 99 per cent of the 2019 election promises.

Simultaneously, party volunteers and local representatives will explain to the people how the Telugu Desam dumped its election manifesto into the dustbin after the 2014 elections.

The Chief Minister said that the third task for the party was that the SC, ST, BC minority leaders including MLAs should take up bus yatras through every constituency from October 25 to December 31. There would be three public meetings a day in the three regions of the state, at which the leaders would explain to the people how social justice was achieved through the implementation of various welfare schemes, and how revolutionary changes were brought in the educational, agricultural and medical and health sectors.

The fourth task, he said, was that the party cadre should ensure that people participated on a massive scale in the ‘Play Andhra Pradesh’ sports festival being organised by the state government from December 11 to January 15.

The CM said the hiked monthly pension of Rs 3,000 will be distributed from January 1 to January 10. The YSR Cheyuta from January 10 to 20 and YSR Aasara will be implemented from January 20 to 30 respectively in a festive atmosphere. The party cadre must create massive public awareness about these programmes and explain to the people how they were being benefited.

The Chief Minister asked the party cadre to inform one and all that the government spent over Rs 2,35,000 crore in DBT (direct benefit transfer) mode on welfare schemes in full transparency and without bias.

“We also created 2,07,000 additional government jobs, of which 80 per cent went to the SC, ST, BC and minorities. We distributed 30 lakh house sites to the people, out of which 90 per cent of the pattas were given to the SC, ST, BC, minorities and 50 per cent of the nominated posts and contracts have been given to SC, ST, BC, minorities through a specially made law, thereby achieving social justice,” the Chief Minister said.

Jagan Mohan Reddy asked the party rank and file to interact with the people on a massive scale henceforth and work for the victory of the party in the next elections aiming at a win of all 175 seats.
