Denied nominated posts, TRS seniors hope to head district units
ADILABAD: TRS leaders who have been denied nominated posts in the last seven years are now desperately angling for the party’s district president post.
Even local legislators and ministers want their associates to head their respective district units in order to consolidate their influence ahead of the next Assembly elections. However, caste and local equations are likely to play a crucial role in picking the ‘right’ candidate.
Many senior leaders are the front-runners after realizing that they are unlikely to get any nominated post in the next two years given the heavy competition that exists.
Although, there is less possibility of seniors getting local body MLC posts, some like Ravinder Rao and Srihari Rao from Nirmal district are still pushing their individual cases given their close association with party boss K. Chandrasekhar Rao and workling president K.T. Rama Rao. Even Godam Nagesh has been trying for the MLC post after his defeat in the last Lok Sabha elections.Heavy lobbying for a nominated post has gone in vain for B. Goverdhan Reddy.
On the other hand, the DCCB chairman post is vacant following the sudden demise of its president Namdev Kamble. Seniors like Goverdhan Reddy and Addi Bhojareddy are now trying for the chairman post.
News doing the political rounds here is that Boath MPP Thula Srinivas, who is a close associate of Adilabad MLA Jogu Ramanna and Boath MLA Rathod Bapurao, is in the running for the Adilabad district president post.
Meanwhile, minority leader Mohd Imtiaz Khan is lobbying for the president post in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district. His credentials are that he has been with the party since its inception and has contributed towards strengthening the party base in the district.
Meanwhile, the fate of contenders for district president post in Nirmal is in the hands of minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy.
