Fight TRS in fray, not courts, says Nayani Narasimha Reddy

''The TRS has alliance with people not with political parties, Mr Nayani said.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti on Monday alleged that the Congress was trying to block the Assembly polls by approaching the courts even after the Election Commission has come out with the poll schedule.

Addressing a press conference in Telangana Bhavan here, caretaker minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy said that if the Opposition has the “guts”, it should fight the TRS in elections and not in the courts.

“If the Opposition has complaints about the voters’ list, they should approach the Election Commission first. The issue of voters’ list comes under the purview of the EC. What is the point of approaching the courts on this? They can go to the courts only if the EC fails to address their concerns. But ignoring the EC, they are going to the courts, which shows that they are only interested in creating legal issues and stalling elections,” Mr Nayani said.

He asked why the Congress, TD, TJS and the CPI were joining hands to fight against the TRS when they had made tall claims all these years that they will contest all the seats independently and defeat the TRS.

“The Congress and the TD claim to be national parties. If they have guts, let them face the TRS individually. the TRS has the power to defeat both, whether they contest individually or jointly. No grand alliance or any alliance can stop the TRS from victory. The TRS has alliance with people not with political parties,” Mr Nayani said.

He said that the TD president and AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has started looking at Telangana state again after he realised that Y.S. Jagan Moghan Reddy will become Chief Minister in the 2019 elections.

“Mr Chandrababu Naidu is trying to gain entry into Telangana state with the help of the Congress, Mr Kodandaram and the CPI. He knows very well that he is going to lose the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections in 2019. The TD is a closed chapter in Telangana. He is trying to open the shop again through backdoor entry. Telangana people will never forgive the TD or Mr Chandrababu for their anti-Telangana stand,” Mr Nayani said.
