Naidu's Wife Bhuvaneswari Visits Durga Temple, Airs 'Jai Amaravati' Slogan

VIJAYAWADA: Nara Bhuvaneswari went to the Kanaka Durga temple here to pray, hours after the arrest of her husband and Telugu Desam chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu. She was accompanied by her brother Nandamuri Ramakrishna.

Bhuvaneswari said that Naidu was fighting not for his family but for the welfare of the people and the state. While speaking to the media, she raised the “Jai Amaravati'' slogan besides “Jai Durga” and “Jai Hind.” With TV telecasting her visit, Telugu Desam supporters gathered there. Videos of her visit went viral on social media.

Bhuvaneswari and Naidu were scheduled to offer prayers at the Sri Durga Devi temple ahead of their wedding anniversary, which falls on Sunday. That was not to be, with the AP CID arresting Naidu.

Turning emotional, Bhuvaneswari said that she had prayed to the Goddess to protect her husband and give him the courage to face the inquiry. She expressed her sorrow over the arrest of Naidu and appealed to the public to support him in his struggles.

She alleged that the arrest was baseless and preplanned.

Ramakrishna said Naidu’s arrest was illegal. Chandrababu was working for the people of both the Telugu states, he said. He alleged that the YSRC had killed democracy by arresting Naidu without, he said, having any evidence. He requested the people to bless the family.

Former MLA Jaleel Khan, TD leader Kesineni Sivanadh (Chinni) and others were present.
