M Thambidurai spots BJP-DMK alliance
Karur: AIADMK senior M Thambidurai on Saturday accused the BJP Government at the Centre of unleashing the CBI raids in Tamil Nadu “just to besmirch the AIADMK administration”. Not just that, the raids were at the behest of the DMK president M K Stalin, said the Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha, who till recently was pretty close to the BJP leadership and had been a conduit between the TN Government and the Centre.
“These CBI raids were ordered by the Centre only at the behest of Stalin. We see a secret relationship between the DMK and the BJP. They are reviving their old alliance. The CBI raid on minister Vijayabaskar is the beginning of this”, Thambidurai told reporters here.
“Vijayabaskar has been working very hard and very efficiently. He has done no wrong. Stalin is spreading falsehood against the minister out of political vendetta”, said Tambidurai, before launching an even more 'interesting' missile.
Insisting that the CBI had conducted its raid on Vijayabaskar on September 5 just to deflect the attention of the media and the public from the 'huge' rally taken out by Alagiri (at Chennai to pay homage to his father Karunanidhi at the Marina), Thambidurai said: “Where is the need to conduct this raid on September 5? It was done only to deflate the big impact of Alagiri's rally and thereby please Sta-
lin, who instigated this raid”.
And thereafter, Thambidurai jumped onto an even more interesting logic. Recalling that the DMK had invited the BJP while leaving out the AIADMK for the memorial meet of the national leaders for Karunanidhi (at Chennai on Aug 30), he concluded: “Just from this, one can detect there's secret relationship between the DMK and the BJP”.
He said the BJP, on the other hand, “has been keeping a distance from our AIADMK and it's been many months since TN CM Palaniswami met the Prime Minister”.
