Revive Congress' targets KPCC president M M Hassan

The movement has shot off a letter to the KPCC and AICC demanding action to invigorate the party.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Revive Congress movement has targeted the Congress leadership for its failure to make it a corrective force and flayed KPCC president M.M. Hassan’s move to observe a fast on Independence Day, instead of celebrating it. The movement has shot off a letter to the KPCC and AICC demanding action to invigorate the party. The members are former national Youth Congress general secretary Mathew Kuzhalnadan, former pradesh YC general secretary R. V. Rajesh, former elected YC general secretary D. V. Vinod Krishna and former YC general secretary Ajis Ben Mathews. They demanded that the political affairs committee should discuss the handover of Halcyon castle at Kovalam to the R. P. Group as the families of the CPM secretary and the chief minister have vested interests in it.

“Kovalam MLA M. Vincent, who was against the CPM’s deal, has been implicated in a rape case as per a conspiracy hatched by the CPM. The very next day after Vincent was arrested, the Halcyon castle was transferred to the RP group. The Congress should take up this issue and hold protests against the move,” said the Revive Congress leaders. They also alleged that both the CPM and BJP were hand-in-glove in the deal. They have opposed Mr Hassan’s move to organise a fast on Independence Day saying the party should have celebrated the day. “The CPM and BJP which don’t have any role in India’s freedom struggle are celebrating Independence Day. The PAC should re-think whether this protest is warranted. Two decades ago, the Congress party acted as a corrective force and that energy should be brought back now,” said a Revive Congress leader.
