VIJAYAWADA: Telugu Desam state general secretary Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao on Saturday alleged that there was a threat to his life as some elements were trying to kill him. “Some miscreants attacked me and my car. At any time they will kill me,” he said.
As part of the 'Bhavishyathku Guarantee Chaitanya Ratha Yatra', the former minister, and other TD leaders, visited the pylon of Chintalapudi lift irrigation scheme at Maddulaparva of Vissannapeta mandal in NTR district.
Uma Maheswara Rao said, “Many people are conspiring to kill me. The ruling party will try to obstruct the Chintalapudi lift irrigation scheme. I will strive to complete the project and release river Godavari water into canals,” he added.
Rao alleged, “My aim is to ensure that Godavari River water flows into NSP canals. Lakhs of acres of agricultural land will come into cultivation. But, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has destroyed the project.”
