Congress hits out at Modi and KTR utterances

HYDERABAD: CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka asked what Prime Minister Narendra Modi had done for Telangana in the last nine years. “I wouldn’t ask for his boycott but insist that he has to explain his failure to implement his promises to the state like Bayyaram steel plant, tribal university and national status for irrigation projects,” he said on Saturday.

Bhatti said the Kazipet coach factory proposal had been reduced to a repair facility. The Centre gave two lakh acres of land to Andhra Pradesh from Telangana for construction of the Polavaram dam but did not give Telangana 3,000 acres of land from Maharashtra for the Pranahita Chevella project, Bhatti said.

Speaking to the media here on Saturday, he said, “The BJP and BRS represent the interests of the corporate and feudal forces, respectively. The BRS did not act honestly when promises were not honoured by Modi. They are together.”

The boycott of Modi’s visit by the BRS was a convenient way of letting go of the BJP. Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao should have met and sought answers from Modi officially. His Tamil Nadu counterpart M.K. Stalin and CPI leaders met Modi during his State visit and sought fulfilment of the promises made to Tamil Nadu, TPCC senior vice-president Mallu Ravi said.

Reacting to Modi’s statements in Warangal, he said, “It’s ridiculous for the PM to say its end of the road for the Congress party. It is unbecoming of a person in such an august post”.

Asked to comment on what basis Rahul Gandhi announced his Rs 4,000 cheyutha scheme, Bhatti said, “Rahul is fighting against the interests of corporate forces and feudal elements in the State represented by the BRS. K.T. Rama Rao would not have spoken like that if he had any idea of Telangana State.”

On the demand for more Assembly seats for BCs, he said, “BC leaders are yet to meet me. They will be given seats based on their population. The people have to get equal share in political, economic and other spheres.”

Explaining the stand of the party on BRS, Ravi reiterated “The Congress party will not have any truck with BRS. A BC leader like Bandi Sanjay was shunted out by the BJP central leadership as he has been a vocal critic of Chandrashekar Rao. The days when the people start boycotting BRS are not far away.”
