Rahul Gandhi to open meet on quest for equality in Bengaluru

Over 2000 delegates and 83 international, 149 national speakers and 80 speakers from Karnataka would participate in the conference.

Bengaluru: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and international human rights activist Martin Luther King-3 will participate in the inaugural of a three day international conference commencing in Bengaluru on July 21 in connection with the 126th birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar.

Disclosing this to the media here on Saturday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the convention would be held in GKVK complex in University of Agricultural Sciences from July 21 to 23 on “Reclaiming Social Justice, Revisiting Ambedker”. Over 2000 delegates and 83 international, 149 national speakers and 80 speakers from Karnataka would participate in the conference.

The CM said the three-day conclave would be held at the time when oppression in social, political and social justice was prevalent. Besides it would focus on inequality, social boycott, stress on social injustice, formation of conducive policies to uphold human values on the foundation of social equality and social justice. Mr Siddaramaiah said on the lines of a declaration by the planning board in 1938, a Bengaluru declaration on protection of social justice, human rights and policy formulation on freedom and upholding democratic values, would be released by the state government. The conference would prove an ideal platform for protection of progressive democracy and to give a forum for like-minded people to express their opinion.

Other key delegates at the conference include former Union Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar, Dr Ramachandra Guha, Dr Shashi Tharoor, Mr Prakash Ambedkar, and Dr Kancha Ilaiah.
