Authorities are all set for the state Legislative Council poll from the South Graduates constituency in Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajnagar and Hassan on Thursday.
As many as 17 candidates including M.V. Ravishankar of BJP, Dr. H.N. Ravindra of Congress, K. T. Srikantegowda of JD(S), Vatal Nagaraj of Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha and writer Prof. K.S. Bhagwan, who is contesting as an independent, H.K. Krishna of Karunadu Party, K.P. Chidananda of Samajwadi Party, Nagabhushan Aradhya of Samajwadi Janata Party and independents are in the fray.
According to Regional Commissioner, Mr Kunjappa, an estimated 1,20,445 registered voters including 83,171 men, 37,265 women and nine transgenders are likely to exercise their franchise at 130 polling booths including 59 in Mysuru, 34 in Mandya, 26 in Hassan and 11 in Chamarajanagar districts between 8 am and 4 pm on Thursday
Elaborate arrangements have been made to monitor violation of model code of conduct, and security arrangements too have been beefed up.
