Cash for vote scam: TD says Naidu fighting BJP, KCR fighting Naidu

TRS MLC Karne Prabhakar said the Chief Minister has every right to review pending case, including cash-for-votes.

Hyderabad: The abrupt reopening of the cash-for-vote case by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, has drawn reactions from political leaders in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, with the Telugu Desam in particular trying to use the renewed focus on the 2015 scandal to their advantage.

As elections draw near, the issue has naturally assumed significance, with both the Telangana Rashtra Samiti and TD trying to gain political mileage from it.

Particularly in AP, the TD wants to turn the tables by accusing Mr Rao of colluding with the Bharatiya Janata Party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Interestingly, the same day that AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu held a meeting of finance ministers of the southern states against the Centre, Mr Rao held a review meeting on the cash-for-votes case, which allegedly involves Mr Naidu.

TD leaders argue that even as Mr Naidu takes on the BJP and the Prime Minister “in the interests of Telangana”, Mr Rao is going against Mr Naidu, and colluding with Modi.

A TD leader said, “AP CM is fighting for the people’s cause and Telangana CM is fighting for a political cause”.
