Edappadi K Palanisami launches slew of projects

The buildings include Royapettah police station and 250 barracks for police personnel at Thiruvottiyur in the city.

Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palanisami inaugurated a slew of projects through video-conferencing and laid foundation stone for projects worth hundreds of crores of rupees for the police, highways and public works departments across the state.

He also inaugurated Rs 155.92 crore worth 40 irrigation project works, two bridges, one service road, four government buildings and an inspection centre. Ministers, chief secretary Girija Vaidyanathan, top bureaucrats and senior police officials were present when the CM inaugurated and laid foundation stone for these projects.

According to an official release here on Monday, Palanisami laid foundation for Rs 49.42 crore worth four-way railway overbridge near Kancheepuram railway station and inaugurated Rs 87.24 crore worth 17 bridges, one railway overbridge, two office buildings of the highways and small ports department, besides starting the works for Rs 5.23 crore river-bridge.

While inaugurating 125 police quarters constructed at a cost of Rs 18.61 crore in Virudhunagar district, he declared open buildings for police, prisons and fire & rescue services departments established for Rs 89.51 crore. The buildings include Royapettah police station and 250 barracks for police personnel at Thiruvottiyur in the city.

He also laid foundation stone for Rs 140.1 crore worth flood mitigation works in Cuddalore, Chidambaram, Kattumannarkoil and Panruti blocks of Cuddalore district, on the occasion.
