Vijayakanth trashes opinion polls

Vijayakanth said that the six-party alliance would emerge victorious in the assembly election defeating both the corrupt parties.

Chennai: DMDK chief Vijayakanth on Sunday accused the AIADMK and the DMK of trying to create a false impression among the voters of their parties winning the election by manipulating pre-poll surveys.

Campaigning for his alliance partner CPI (M)’s Maduravoyal constituency candidate G. Bhimrao, the DMDK chief, said that two news channels had released pre poll election surveys. “If the pre-poll surveys are valid and accurate one, both results should have been the same. But the results of the two surveys are contradictory. Hence, it is not an opinion poll but an attempt to impose their opinion. People are not fools to believe these,” he said.

Taking on Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi’s comment that he and DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin are like double-barrelled guns fighting corruption, he said that DMK is the root cause of corruption in the state.

“DMK leaders are facing trial in a special court on 2G spectrum case while Congress leaders are accused in the coal scams. We can go on listing the scams against them,” he said

Stating that this election would be turning election in the history of Tamil Nadu after the 1967 polls, he said that the six-party alliance would emerge victorious in the assembly election defeating both the corrupt parties.

“In the last 50 years, both the AIADMK and DMK have looted the state’s wealth. To end this corruption, we need a change in the government. This election will be a turning point after Annadurai’s period. This poll will pave way for a coalition government formed by our alliance,” he said.
