TRS protests against Centre for not procuring paddy from state

Protestors take out ‘funeral procession’ of Modi

Hyderabad: TRS leaders and workers on Friday hoisted black flags atop their houses and those of farmers, and in streets across 12,769 gram panchayats and burnt effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is part of a series of protests called by the TRS leadership against the decision of the Centre not to procure paddy from Telangana in the rabi season.

Ministers, MLAs, MLCs, MPs, and elected representatives of local bodies took out rallies in mandal and Assembly constituency headquarters as part of the fourth phase of agitation that began on April 4. The fifth and final phase of the agitation will be held in Delhi on April 11. The protestors also held symbolic ‘funeral processions’ of Modi.

Ministers A. Indrakaran Reddy, Ch. Malla Reddy, Gangula Kamalakar, S. Niranjan Reddy, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Satyavathi Rathod, V. Srinivas Goud, Vemula Prashanth Reddy and P. Ajay Kumar led the protests in their respective districts.

They vowed to continue the programmes until the Centre agrees to procure the entire paddy from Telangana in rabi.

They held BJP Telangana leaders responsible as farmers had sown paddy for rabi in 35 lakh acres on the procurement assurances given by the Centre.
