Nellore: Booth level officers (BLOs) involved in distribution of voter slips seem to be in a fix over delivering them to voters before the deadline of Tuesday because most of them do not have the address of the voters.
Voters slips guide the voters about the polling booth they have to approach to cast their vote. It saves their time of searching in the voters' list which allegedly is full of errors.
While each BLO is supposed to deliver between 1,500 and 2,000 slips within four days, they could distribute only 300 to 500 during the last three days because of address and other issues with one more day left to finish the task.
Most of the voters enrolled their names online through Mee Seva centres. They have been facing a peculiar problem in Dargamitta area of Nellore. Their names do not tally with the voter ID card number given to them by the Mee Seva.
The name and address in the voters slip is different from the online details. The BLOs have been suggesting these voters to carry their Aadhaar card with them to the polling booth while voting because their online details are matching.
A BLO distributing slips in Dargamitta area in the heart of Nellore City claimed that they received the voter's slips of people living in Venkatachalam (Sarveypalli segment) though the polling station is in Dargamitta.
"We are at a loss to understand how vote of a person living in Venkatachalam is listed at the polling station in Nellore rural segment. There are many such cases and we suspect that someone is playing mischief with the voters list to prevent people from voting" a BLO said on condition of anonymity.
Referring to deadline set for distribution of the slips by Tuesday, she said that it is a herculean task for the BLO's to distribute all the slips given to them before the election scheduled for April 11 while pointing to the scores of errors including zero as door number on the slips.
