Kadapa: All arrangements in place for peaceful polling process
Kadapa: District collector and election officer C. Harikiran advised the voters to bring some identity proof along with photo voter slip to the polling station while coming to cast their vote.
He addressed a media conference at the collectorate on Monday afternoon where he said that the district administration had made all arrangements for smooth and peaceful elections.
The total number of voters in the district are 22,04,964 of which males are 10,87,117, females 11,17,547 while the third gender are 300. There are 15 contestants for Kadapa Parliament seat and nine for Rajampeta parliament segment. There are a total of 10 assembly constituencies where the number of contestants are 133, he added.
The total number of polling stations arranged stands at 2,723 to which three more have been added, he explained. For every polling station, there will be a PO and five staff deployed. A total of 6,500 EVMs and 6,900 VVPATS have been arranged. Total manpower engaged on election duty stood at 24,000 he added. Web casting has been arranged in 230 polling stations and 2,300 crew members have been deployed for this purpose including 832 videographers appointed for the polling stations.
All polling staff would be dispersed to their respected polling stations on Wednesday hafternoon. "We have engaged 555 buses to transport as well as 40 light vehicles engaged, he said.
There are 760 polling stations identified as critical. Special security arrangements have been made for a smooth election there, he said.
Physically handicapped persons will be able to cast their vote for whom election commission has made special transport facility. Autos have been engaged, collector said. There was a special ballot in braille is arranged for the blind he added. we have identified 43 polling stations in 26 locations are vulnerable, where special security arrangements made. The party's campaign to be closed by Tuesday evening 5pm, and the liquors shops to be closed 48 hours before the polling starts he said. The non-residents of the district should go out of the district, otherwise they must arrest collector cautioned. 11 DSPs, CIs/RIs 60, Sis/RSIs 125, ASIs 179, HC and others 3500, CAPF 6 companies, IRB 6 companies and APSP 20 platoons are deployed for security the election officer said. The joint collector Koteswara Rao and DRO participated in the media conference.
The collector also cautioned outsiders in the district to not try to make any unwelcome move. They were told to keep away from district.
He, however, did not mentioned that they may arrested for their presence.
